Solution Specification:
Seven types of outlets for audio video data telephone
VDT : Video, Data, Telephone, powered by 1 cat5e, 2 RG6 3GHz and 1 Cat6 cable DT : Data + telephone powered by 2 cat5e cables T : telephone powered by 1 cat5e Cable D : Data powered by 1 cat5e Cable AVC :Audio Volume control for A-bus whole house audio with ceiling speakers in same room/zone powered by cat5e from panel/entertainment center and 14/2 speaker wires to ceiling speakers HT : Home theater 5 pairs of binding post modules for audio input. Located behind entertainment/TV unit. (Other end terminates directly on to the speakers. VC : video camera, run one RG6 and 1 cat5e to each of the interior/exterior camera location. Three technologies available, CCTV($), IP camera($$), IP camera with Power over ethernet($$$) wire for both. CCTV uses 1 RG6 for video and cat5e for 12V DC IP camera uses cat5e for signal and control and have a 110 V AC close by for power. IP camera with power over ethernet handles signal/control and power all from one cat5e but is very expensive now. When pre-wiring for video camera leave ample extra length on camera end and cover gang box with wallplate.
I have assumed top of page to be south, bottom is north, right is west and left is east.
Structured Wiring Panel location
Closet behind Bonus Room.
Living
1 VDT in niche next to fireplace. If you envision a flat screen TV then you will need to mount this wallplate at 5 feet height otherwise 18 inches.
1 DT in the wet bar area
1 HT 5.1 Surround sound. Are the Rear speakers ceiling mountable? if so you can mount them on the surface of the ceiling and point them to the TV. That way you can position them the way I have shown in the Fax.
Kitchen
1 VDT on east kitchen wall under cabinet/on splash-board to allow tel, data and under cabinet TV.
1 D behind fridge
1 T Leviton Out-of-sight phone jack at your choice of wall location. (I added this)
Office
1 VDT on South east Corner. This wallplate can be mounted at ceiling height if you envision a TV mounted on a TV-Stand or a plasma tv mounted up high.
1 2D (1 wallplate 2 Data jacks) on south wall
1 DT on west wall.
Dining
1 DT on west wall
Bed#1
1 VDT on the north wall
1 DT on the west wall
Bed#2
1 VDT on the east wall
1 DT on the west wall
Bed#3
1 VDT on the east wall
1 DT on the west wall
Study
1 VDT on the south east corner
1 D on south wall
1 T on east wall
Master Bed
1 VDT on the west corner across from Bed
2 T on each side of the bed.
Garage/Workshop
This design is slightly different from what is on the fax
1 VDT install this at ceiling height on center of south wall. This will make it easier to watch when working in garage/over parked cars/pool table if any.
2 D install this at workshop table height and not the usuall 18 inches from the floor.
1 DT on North wall west corner.
Bonus Room
I eliminated the extra VDT
1 VDT on the North Wall
1 HT outlet for 7.1 surround from the Harmon Kardon unit.
1 Leviton out-of-sight Jack on north wall near stairs
IP camera/CCTV camera
Run one cat5e and one rg6 cable to each
camera location. (front porch, back porch, mailbox) For indoors and remote command/control/viewing use IP camera Also provide 110V AC to power
IP camera For outdoors use weatherproof bullet camera
and CCTV technology. this technology is easier to hook-up to the TV. YOu can use a notch filter to free up channels 75-81 and show your CCTV camera feeds on those channels.
(I have calculated cable and data connections you need
in the structured wiring panel)
Whole House audio
We have the Channel Vision a-bus kits. Your audio source would be picked up from the Harmon Kardon unit and sent to the structured wiring panel using cat5e cable. There it gets distributed to (4) A-bus volume control units that mount in each of the 4 zones (Master bed, master bath, patio, dining and garage). Behind the TV unit in the master bed you can install a A-Bus local input source. This will allow you to take TV audio and play it in the bath. From the controller unit a 14/2 speaker wire would take the amplified audio signal to the ceiling speakers.
