Solution Specification:
Four types of outlets for audio video data telephone (whole house described seperately)
VDT : Video, Data, Telephone, powered by composite cable DT : Data + telephone powered by cat5e cables HT : Home theater 5 pairs of binding post modules for audio input. Located behind entertainment/TV unit. (Other end terminates directly on to the speakers. VC : video camera, run one RG6 and 1 cat5e to each of the interior/exterior camera location. Three technologies available, CCTV($), IP camera($$), IP camera with Power over ethernet($$$) wire for both.
CCTV uses 1 RG6 for video and cat5e for 12V DC
IP camera uses cat5e for signal and control and have a 110 V AC close by for power.
IP camera with power over ethernet handles signal/control and power all from one cat5e but is very expensive now.
When pre-wiring for video camera leave ample extra length on camera end and cover gang box with wallplate.
Home Orientation
For the sake of this design I have considered
top of page to be North, Bottom is South, Right edge
of page is East and Left edge of page is West.
Great room
2 VDT One on west wall to the north or south of fireplace for a large screen tv and another above the fireplace(optional) if you think this is the right place for a future plasma TV. Due to the central location of the fireplace it is hard for me to figure the exact location. Please pick two spots for VDT per your floor plan and home decoration.
1 DT on north wall to the west of the Nook.
1 HT wiring in the great room. wires start at one of the two VDT locations of your choice and terminate on wall or ceiling depending on your speaker type(front floor standing/satellite, rear wall mounted(flush/surface) or ceiling mounted(surface only)
Kitchen
1 VDT on east kitchen wall under cabinet/on splash-board to allow tel, data and under cabinet TV. and easy access to data for Fridge/Internet connection
1 DT on splash board of the kitchen Island/bar for laptop/kitchen phone
Dining
1 VDT on East wall north or south corner
1 DT north wall center
Study
1 VDT on the west wall/built-in
1 DT on North wall center
Master Bedroom
1 VDT on east wall (bookcase)
2 DT, one on each side of the bed
1 HT for 5.1 surround sound/home theater
Bedroom #2 (2nd floor north)
1 VDT on east wall
1 DT on west wall at nightstand north of the bed
Bedroom #3 (2nd floor West)
1 VDT on West wall
1 DT on East wall at nightstand north of the bed
Whole House Audio
A 4-zone A-bus whole house audio system with
built in IR repeater system.
Building blocks are:
4 zone distribution module
installed at the wall where the main entertainment unit will
reside (great room?)
2 x 24 V power supply
4 x amplified keypads
4 pairs of ceiling/wall speakers
Wiring is 1 cat5e from distribution module to each
amplified keypad. Speaker wire 14/2 from
keypad to the ceiling/wall speakers.
Great room is already covered with the entertainment
unit, you could go with 4 zones : dining, covered patio
study and master bedroom
Looks like we have 3 downstairs zones (covered patio, office
and guest suite) and 5 upstairs zones (sun deck(outdoor wall mount speakers, loft, bedroom #3, bedroom#4, master bedroom)
(we dont sell Russound items and cannot quote you on it.
cable estimates however are included.)
IP camera/CCTV camera
run one cat5e and one rg6 cable to each potential
camera location. (eg porch, and sun deck for outdoors
and the 2 upstairs bedrooms) For indoors use IP camera and
install camera diagonally opposite from door at ceiling
height to cover entire room, also provide 110V AC to power
IP camera For outdoors use weatherproof bullet camera
and CCTV technology.
(I have calculated cable and data connections you need
in the structured wiring panel, we
only sell IP cameras and dont have CCTV cameras)
