Solution Specification:
Four types of outlets for audio video data telephone (whole house described seperately)
VDTF : Video, Data, Telephone, powered by 2RG6, 2 cat5e and 1 pair multi-mode fiber cable DT : Data + telephone powered by 1 cat5e cable and 1 Cat5e Cable. Note : I have used cat5e as cat6 is not available in the bundled cable and since you want to run multi-mode fiber, this is the best option. Also cat5e from a leading maker like Belden is Gigabit capable and will likely exceed the specification of non-branded cat6 cables. Also they have bonded-pair technology that ensures cat5e performance after the cable has been pulled through 2x4's. HT : Home theater 5 pairs of binding post modules for audio input. Located behind entertainment/TV unit. (Other end terminates directly on to the speakers. VC : video camera, run one RG6 and 1 cat5e to each of the interior/exterior camera location. Three technologies available, CCTV($), IP camera($$), IP camera with Power over ethernet($$$) wire for both.
CCTV uses 1 RG6 for video and cat5e for 12V DC
IP camera uses cat5e for signal and control and have a 110 V AC close by for power.
IP camera with power over ethernet handles signal/control and power all from one cat5e but is very expensive now.
When pre-wiring for video camera leave ample extra length on camera end and cover gang box with wallplate.
Home Orientation
For ease of communication I have considered
top of page to be North, Bottom is South, Right edge
of page is East and Left edge of page is West.
Great room /Porch
1 VDTF on west wall center for a large screen/Plasma ScreenDue to. This TV location can be moved a bit south of the center to allow viewing from dining room.
1 DT on south wall
1 HT wiring in the great room. wires start behind the TV (at the VDTF location)and terminate on wall or ceiling depending on your speaker type(front floor standing/satellite, rear wall mounted(flush/surface) or ceiling mounted(surface only)
I am going to design for 5.1 wiring but you can additionally add a left/right binding post module pairs and take the Amplifiers auxilary out and put ceiling speakers in kitchen/Porch/Dining.
Kitchen / Dining
1 VDTF on east kitchen wall under cabinet/on splash-board to allow tel, data and under cabinet TV.
1 DT on splash board on either side of Kitchen Sink for laptop/kitchen phone/Wireless Access Point.
1 D behind refrigerator for data connection.
1 T on your choice of kitchen wall for a wired wall
phone with a wireless look.(Leviton Out-of-sight Jack
with built-in power supply for wired phones)
Bedroom #3
1 VDTF on East wall
1 DT West wall north of bed (assuming this is where the bed goes)
Bedroom #2
1 VDTF on West wall
1 DT East wall north of bed (assuming this is where the bed goes)
Master Bedroom
(Assuming Bed goes on west wall)
1 VDTF on east wall
2 DT, one on each side of the bed
1 HT for 5.1 surround sound/home theater
(not in your spec, but would recommend it)
Garage and Basement
1 x Leviton Out-of-sight Phone Jacks in garage and Basement
IP camera/CCTV camera
Run one cat5e and one rg6 cable to each potential
camera location. (eg porch, Entry/Great Room Ceiling) For indoors and remote command and control use IP camera and
install camera diagonally opposite from door at ceiling
height to cover entire room or center of ceiling in Great Room, also provide 110V AC to power
IP camera For outdoors use weatherproof bullet camera
and CCTV technology.
(I have calculated cable and data connections you need
in the structured wiring panel, we
only sell IP cameras and dont have CCTV cameras)
